The Microbiologist/QC Specialist will have responsibility to perform microbial
testing, organize the day to day activities of the microbiology lab and ensure its smooth and efficient operation.
The position is responsible for quality system management and compliance with defined procedures according
to ISO-13485 and commercial practices, as well as for quality training and document control.
CORE POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: (not all inclusive)
? Perform all bacterial and fungal testing using ASTM, AATCC, JIS, ISO and Guobiao (GB) test
methods. Conduct testing using a bioMérieux TEMPO automated microbiological enumerator
and/or standard plate count method.
? Generate, evaluate and revise SOP’s and maintain documentation per GLP’s.
? Remain current with ASTM and AATCC test methods related to Sciessent products.
? Generate technical reports for technical team and clients.
? Provide training and ensure compliance with the Quality Management system.
? Review and confirm data from assays performed by co-workers.
? Review supplier inspection sheets and generate Sciessent certificates.
? Review and approve inbound materials compared to specifications (“incoming inspection”).
? Review batch records for masterbatches, blended powder, textile slurries, and other products.
? Survey suppliers using vendor questionnaires and respond to inbound customer questionnaires.
? Maintain approved vendor list and conduct periodic supplier audits.
? Perform preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.
? Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reorder as required.
? Execute installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), performance
qualification (PQ) and validation of all new laboratory equipment.
? Cross-train in analytical testing methods and perform other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
? Knowledgeable about and experienced with Quality Management Systems.
? Ability to manage and prioritize duties and workflow through laboratory.
? General laboratory functions including pipetting, preparation of chemical and biological
solutions, and troubleshooting.
? Ability to maintain and calibrate general laboratory equipment such as Graphite Furnace
Atomic Absorption, analytical balances and micro-pipettors.
? Experience performing ASTM, AATCC, JIS, GB, and ISO test methods.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
? B.S in biological sciences or equivalent.
? 5+ years experience in laboratory operations.
? Competent with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
? Periodic working on weekends and nights may be required based on the needs of the company.
? Routine hours may vary based on the needs of the company.
